Overview ...

This page is meant to provide an access to on-line materials, software, Web servers and other Web pages that we develop as part of our research, teaching and outreach activities. Our group is part of the Division of Biomedical Informatics at the Children's Hospital Research Foundation (CHRF). CHRF together with the College of Medicine and other departments of the University of Cincinnati form a vibrant center of biomedical research. To learn more about the research environment in Cincinnati follow the links above.

Our research is focused on computational methods in molecular biology and genomics. In short, what we are doing may be classified either as computational biology or bioinformatics, with significant component of pattern recognition and machine learning. We are pursuing research on fundamental problems, such as protein folding process and protein-protein interactions. On a more practical side, we are also interested in developing bioinformatics tools, e.g. for protein structure and function recognition or gene annotation. We are also developing methods for identification of predictive fingerprints of disease states that aim at finding correlation between multiple genomic and clinical attributes with disease states, progression and treatment response. In collaboration with biologists, biochemists and physicians, we are applying standard and our own methods to particular problems at hands.

In order to access all other pages, please follow the links below and in the contents frame to the left. There is a number of things that you may find interesting while shopping around, such as amino acid page, molecular dynamics tutorial, kinases and phosphorylation motifs page, RPA page, linear programming and machine learning benchmarks, fold recognition tutorial etc. Time permitting we will add even more educationally oriented materials on bioinformatics and computational biology, proteins and protein structure, molecular dynamics and folding simulations, gene and protein expression profile analysis etc.  Enjoy!
